Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents, Winona Ryder's parents, chose her name after her hometown. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's mother and father have both been Jewish. Ryder believes herself to be Jewish. Uria is Ryder's younger sister. Jubal, Sunyata and Sunyata are her half-siblings. Ryder's family relocated from Mendocino County to California at the age of seven years old. There, they didn't have electricity. Ryder became an avid read because they had no television. When she turned twelve, Ryder was accepted into the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. In 1986 she landed her first big-screen role in the movie Lucas at just 15 years old. Ryder endured bullying while in high school. Her professional acting, she believed, would help her. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. However, she kept working towards her dream. In 1988, in the year Tim Burton released Beetlejuice that gave her her first big break. Ryder continued to play numerous roles that were successful. In 1993, she was awarded an Oscar Award for The Age of Innocence.
